Heat Pump Technologies 2027:
New developments for the second edition unveiled at MCE 2026
Greater focus on renewables, technological integration and a new report by Energy & Strategy Group of Politecnico di Milano at the heart of event’s evolution
The second edition of Heat Pump Technologies will return to Milan on April 7 and 8,2027, with focus on heat pumps opening to renewable and systemic integration.
During MCE – Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2026, the presentation of Heat Pump Technologies (HPT 2027) took place on March 24. The international Exhibition and Conference dedicated to Heat Pumps and the related supply chain, organized by RX Italy, scheduled will be held on 7-8 April, 2027 at Allianz MiCo in Milan.
The meeting provided an opportunity to share the main updates of the second edition and to review the Italian heat pump market, thanks to the contributions from Massimiliano Pierini, Managing Director of RX Italy and Professor Vittorio Chiesa, Director of Energy & Strategy Group at Politecnico di Milano.
HPT 2027: the event’s evolution towards a systemic approach
Following the success of its first edition, Heat Pump Technologies is preparing to return in an expanded way, strengthening its positioning as leading vertical event for the sector.
HPT will continue to develop as highly specialized format, combing an exhibition area with technical and scientist content, while adopting an increasingly integration-oriented vision across technologies.
The second edition will feature a significant expansion of content, with greater emphasis on renewable energy sources, including photovoltaics, energy storage systems and advanced energy management solutions, in line with the market evolution towards integrated energy systems.
This evolution reflects a paradigm shift: heat pumps are no longer a stand-alone technology, but a central component of complex energy ecosystems, increasingly geared toward decarbonization.
A new report to interpret the market
During HPT 2027, a new study on heat pumps will be presented, once again developed by the Energy & Strategy Group of Politecnico di Milano and exclusively commissioned by RX Italy.
The study will update and expand the report already presented during the first edition in 2025.
The new report will offer a broader perspective, including the role of renewables and providing deeper insights into industrial and commercial applications.
Professor Vittorio Chiesa presented updated market data, highlighting how the Italian heat pump sector is recovering, reaching a value of €2.79 billion in 2025 (+6% compared to 2024), albeit with differing dynamics across segments.
A growing market, with opportunities and areas for development
The analysis highlights a solid and evolving sector, showing concrete signs of growth and consolidation.
While demand is increasing — particularly in higher-capacity segments for the tertiary sector — several areas for improvement are emerging, which also represent key development levers for the market. These include:
· the need for greater regulatory stability and clearer incentive mechanisms
· attention to electricity price dynamics
· strengthening of the installation supply chain and professional skills
· opportunities to develop domestic production, which still partly depends on imports in higher-volume segments
In this context, achieving European 2030 targets represents a significant challenge, but at the same time a stimulus to accelerate the sector’s growth path.
The actual positive trend highlights significant potential that can be further unlocked through targeted actions and increased integration across technologies and supply chains.
HPT 2027 as platform for strategic dialogue
In this scenario, Heat Pump Technologies 2027 aims to be not only a significant challenge, but as a platform for strategic dialogue for the entire value chain.
The edition 2027 will further strengthen the conference program, with focus on energy integration and renewables, while fostering networking opportunities among industry players, designers, real estate professionals, public administration, ESCOs, energy managers, and institutional stakeholders.
The event aims to continue serving as a knowledge and update hub for the sector, supporting the market through a complex transformation phase and helping bridge the gap between technological potential and real-world adoption.
Towards 2027
With the first edition that recorded over 6,000 professional visitors and more than 100 exhibitors, Heat Pump Technologies now looks ahead to 2027 with the ambition to consolidate and expand its role in the international exhibition landscape.
The April 7–8, 2027 event will represent a key moment to understand sector trends and accelerate the path toward the energy transition.
